Tracker Weekend - Medicine Pipes
April, 2014

Near the conclusion of the Phoenix 3.0 group, it was appropriate for the boys
to carve ceremonial Medicine Pipes. Each previous group has constructed them near the end of their group expereince.
We gathered at the home of the Brownes, who had a good store of sumac branches
from which we could choose stems.

After the stems were carved it was necessary to work on the soapstone bowls.
This started with drilling the necessary holes.

After drilling they could blow out the dust.

Cutting and filing the bowls to the desired shape was the next step.

Here is Walter's pipe, finished except for the final polishing and laquer.
